Job Details This is an ECB position located at the Glenpool facility

ECB is short for Emergency Call Basis. ECB is when an employee works a variable shift or schedule and is not guaranteed a specific number of hours. This position has limited benefits.

Job Summary:

Assigns ICD-9 and CPT codes on surgical, procedural, inpatient and outpatient records utilizing medical documentation as source documents to prepare accurate billing information and to assure correct reimbursement for services provided. Prompts physicians for clarification when documentation is conflicting or ambiguous. This advanced coding knowledge would primarily be utilized in a surgical specialty practice.

Education:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Applicable college education preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CPC Apprentice preferred.

Work Experience:

1-2 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience and use of CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS coding of services. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. Knowledge of evaluation and management coding concepts, modifiers, and insurance guidelines. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Effective organization of multi-task role. Understanding of medical office compliance issues, billing and reimbursement processes.
