Patient Account Rep-Government Insurance Follow-Up

Job Summary: Performs any clerical billing responsibility assigned to ensure that patient accounts are processed in a manner that results in prompt and maximized payment. Acts as a liaison between Patient Account Services, physician offices, patients and third party carriers to identify and resolve any related issues.

Must have experience billing Medicare, Medicaid, and Hospice; follow-up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe; work directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to get a claim processed and paid; review and appeal unpaid and denied claims; identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances; handle collections on unpaid accounts with production standards; must have advanced Excel experience; requires the ability to problem solve and take on multiple tasks; participate in weekly team meetings. Work an average of 80 claims per day. Complete other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to utilize a ten key by touch. Typing 30 wpm. Data Entry 6000 kph. Basic computer knowledge and skills. Good communication skills - written and verbal. Good grammar skills. Basic understanding of a professional business environment. Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes.
